L'Isle sur la Sorgue

This town is famous for its Sunday antiques (and just plain old stuff) market. If you want to decorate your home to look Provençal, this is the place to come. Thom, Ria and I went there on a Thursday, and it was fairly crowded but by no means uncomfortable to get around. Sunday morning, though, when the market is in full swing, is another story. It was absolutely packed.

Running through the town is the River Sorgue, and a famous water wheel is turned by the river. Below is a picture of Ria by the wheel, and Benjamin by the river. Ria took some of the pictures below, and I took others: two giraffes, a bunch of olives artfully displayed, the crowded food market.

We visited several shops, including an art gallery with several interesting paintings, and a furniture store which had for sale a gorgeous antique zinc bar that I fell in love with, but can't afford. Or maybe I could afford it (it was very hard to read the price, was it 4500 or 11500 euros?) but shipping it to Bellingham would be prohibitively expensive.
